My Story

Doug Gehman is the President of Globe International, a mission sending agency based in Pensacola, Florida. Doug and his wife Beth are lifelong globally-minded people. They were married in 1976, and visited Asia a year later in 1977. That initial trip inspired them to move their young family to the other side of the world where they lived, served, built a ministry and raised their four children for fifteen years.

After several internship years, in 1983 Doug started AsiaNet Ministries with a vision to preach the Gospel throughout South East Asia, beginning in Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. In 1988, the AsiaNet Team started planting churches in a “harvest field” among the Tamil tea estate workers in Sri Lanka’s hill country. Over the next eight years they planted thirty-six churches. In years following, the movement grew under national leadership. Today there are nearly one hundred churches serving 35,000 people.

Doug attended Goshen College and Fuller Theological Seminary, and completed Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Missions at Liberty Christian University in Pensacola, Florida. Since 1994, Doug has served with Globe International. He became the Director in 2001 and the President in 2004.

Doug and Beth have ministered in over fifty nations. They have four married children and eleven grandchildren. Doug loves to coach emerging leaders, and help them discover their giftings and life direction. Doug is the author of four books. The most recent, “Before You Quit – Everyday Endurance, Moral Courage, and the Quest for Purpose” was released in 2020 by Moody Publishers. Doug’s book, “White Picket Fences,” is a compelling, hilarious, and inspiring story about growing up in a rural Pennsylvania Mennonite culture and being called by God to go around the world.

Doug loves writing, surfing, cycling, walking, and spending time with his family.
